March Embroidery Club

UPDATE: 3/17/2013 I had this post done over a week ago, but apparently forgot to hit the publish button so I am sorry about that.

This months tip:  put metallic thread in freezer 30 minutes before using to help prevent breakage.

We had a great club today as usual. I want to start by sharing these amazing and adorable cake pops that Sidney and her granddaughter did for the refreshment.

I love the idea of covering peeps in chocolate. How fun would that be for kids to give to their teachers?

Thank you Sidney, they tasted heavenly.

Jan was unable to be with us as she had a funeral to attend, but she did drop off her projects for us to admire.

I am sure all of you are familiar with subway art? Jan found this fun St. Patrick's Day subway art on PINTEREST and digitized it.
This is another design she did.

The idea for this bunny she found HERE but why hand embroider when your machine can do it for you? So she digitized this one.
She thinks this bunny came from crafts n things magazine.
This is a cute sachet pouch she made, that you could embroider a small shamrock or bunny onto.

This cute bunny sachet is from HERE

February Club

Sorry about the delay in posting this month's club, I honestly was thinking that I had already posted. I think the first Saturday of the month has got me a little off.

Jan has sent around a sign up for people to bring the refreshment. There are still several spots open if you would like to help.
This month's UFO went to me(now what project to finish up)

Now onto the fun part of club. Jan showed us how easy it is to do cut work.
This is a free design from S Embroidery If you need a tutorial one can be found HERE

This is a bag she made using cut work. The design is free from HERE. Jan says, "Hoop fabric and dissolvable stabilizer. Stitch out the first four colors - stop- cut fabric away from eggs and rectangle (not stabilizer) - stitch out the rest of the colors and you are done.  Wash away stabilizer."
These were done using the Dimensional Machine Embroidery book which can be found HERE
If you are planning on doing cut work you might want to look into purchasing this fiber remover, called Fiber Etch. It will make it easier to get those little pieces out of those hard to cut places.

This is a fun valentines design
How about this cute valentine envelope post card. Fill it with small gifts or candy for friends or teachers.  Here is Jan's quick tutorial: for the postcard envelope/candy holder, hoop one layer of felt (no stabilizer) then stitch out all except the last stitch.  Put a second piece of felt under the hoop then stitch out the last stitch.  Remove from hoop.  I used pinking shears for the edge and cut two small slits back and from to thread some ribbon through to close.

She made hot pads using a valentine post card

Here is March's block of the month block for those of you participating.
Kara (Sidney's Granddaughter) made January's block of the month. I love the pink background
Here is Helen's February BOM

Kathi made a pillow and reversible panels that button on for the different holidays, on the back of this one is St. Patrick's Day
She also made these fun valentine sucker holders from Embroidery Library

Tina showed her name banner now that it is all done
and her darling duck quilt all quilted
Shelley W digitized this St. Patrick's day mylar design
and a free standing lace shamrock
Jean made these fun burps
