March Embroidery Club

UPDATE: 3/17/2013 I had this post done over a week ago, but apparently forgot to hit the publish button so I am sorry about that.

This months tip:  put metallic thread in freezer 30 minutes before using to help prevent breakage.

We had a great club today as usual. I want to start by sharing these amazing and adorable cake pops that Sidney and her granddaughter did for the refreshment.

I love the idea of covering peeps in chocolate. How fun would that be for kids to give to their teachers?

Thank you Sidney, they tasted heavenly.

Jan was unable to be with us as she had a funeral to attend, but she did drop off her projects for us to admire.

I am sure all of you are familiar with subway art? Jan found this fun St. Patrick's Day subway art on PINTEREST and digitized it.
This is another design she did.

The idea for this bunny she found HERE but why hand embroider when your machine can do it for you? So she digitized this one.
She thinks this bunny came from crafts n things magazine.
This is a cute sachet pouch she made, that you could embroider a small shamrock or bunny onto.

This cute bunny sachet is from HERE

This is a project she made but forgot to bring to share. She used warm and natural for the bunny on felt. The idea came from HERE

These cute bunny pants treat bags she found HERE, but didn't find them until after club.

Terrie gave a demonstration on and in the hoop design using a zipper, and showed how to make a wallet, using THIS design from five star fonts.

She also shared this cute in the hoop heart coin purse. This design is free from Five Star Fonts
She also made this Easter banner using  the in the hoop Easter treat bag design  from GoldenNeedleDesigns and the egg treat bag also from Golden Needle Designs which can be found HERE

Now it's time for show n' tell

Helen made these fun pictures that she can unvelcro and change to a new month.
Shelly digitized this Easter egg design, but was fighting with her machine and will send it out as soon as she fixes a few things.
Kathi shared her St. Patrick's Day shirt

and valentine shirt.

How cute is this quilt Nattalie made for her daughters Baptism? I love the colors in it.

Shelly made this Alaska sweatshirt for her hubby when they went on their cruise.

and this one too.

Shariann made this bag using THIS design from Julia's Needle
Anna made this blessing dress using a pattern from Martha Pullen.

Lydia made covers for these headphones

and these glasses for her pony

Tina made her block of the month blocks

Close up of one of the designs.

Beverly made this apron using an old shirt. I love the ruffle on the bottom

Neva made american girl doll clothes

and showed her finished quilt using the blocks she showed last month.

Carol did these cute cut work ducks

+
And this redwork sue bonnet quilt
She also made this fun ABC quilt.
Diane made an apron using 2 long sleeve men's dress shirts. I love the contrasting
Pat stitched out these horses but is still deciding what she is going to make with them.
She has been having fun doing felting and making scarves
She added the design to the end of the scarf(it is kind of hard to see)

It was a great club and I can not wait to see what next months club brings.

Lucky banner

Here is a banner I made for St. Patricks Day I thought I would share it with you.

I started with a  rectangle piece of white fabric  and used one of the frames off of my machine then added an applique font and added a shamrock to each letter.

For the end ones I used the rag it up shamrock from GG Designs and added the wording

After I had them all stitched out I took the backing and put right sides together and sewed up the bottom and two sides and left the top open and turned them inside out then centered them on my ribbon and folded the ribbon over and sewed it all together.

I wish I had pictures of each step but I made it before the blog was started and didn't think about it.

Our first post

Jan found this cute idea for St. Patrick's Day from Skip to my lou but they have it made out of paper so she digitized it and stitched it out and put it in a frame.  She used the 5x7 file and put it in an 8x10 frame. It would be cute on a towel or pillow. There are lots of ways to "Bling" it up. Notice on the heel of the shoe, she used metallic green to stitch it out.

Here is one with a bow
Here she left the bow off.

Here is a close up of the design stitched out.

She will be emailing everyone the file so keep a look out for it in your inbox.

She also had an idea..It could be made as a shoe for all seasons by just changing the fabric, colors and words. She included the design with out words.

So get creative and if you stitch this out send me a picture and I will post it for everyone to see.
